Guide
Planning a company or Christmas party with a DJ
A successful company party comes down to three things: a date secured early, a clear running order with reception, dinner, speeches and party, and music that brings your whole team along. I’m Jannik Trenz, an event DJ from Saarlouis. I’ve been behind the decks since 2010 and have played more than 500 events. In this guide, I show you how I plan company parties, staff parties and Christmas parties with businesses.
Free, no-obligation first call

01
When should you book a DJ for your company party?
As soon as your date and venue are set. If you’re planning your Christmas party, it’s worth checking the calendar especially early: Fridays and Saturdays in December book up quickly. Still planning for this year? Just get in touch and within 24 hours I’ll tell you whether your date is still free. For next year, it’s worth enquiring from January.
Short-notice enquiries are still welcome. I’ll reply personally about availability within 24 hours. After our conversation, you receive the quote and contract and have 14 days to accept both.

02
How does a company party with a DJ run?
Each phase has its own volume, its own pace and its own cues. This is how I plan the evening with you.
Reception
As people arrive, they should be able to talk. The music stays comfortably in the background.
Dinner
Conversation comes first during dinner too. I match volume and speaker positions to the room, the guests and the venue’s requirements.
Speeches and programme
Thank-you speeches, awards, a look back at the year or presentations: we plan microphones, playback and music cues for them. If there are fixed cues, I need the current schedule and a contact person on site.
Party
Afterwards, things can get louder and livelier, as far as the venue allows. I respond to your team until the last song.

Music for your staff party: mixed teams and generations
At a staff party, different generations and departments often come together. That’s exactly what I enjoy most as a DJ. I play open format and mix live: familiar songs, current hits and sing-along classics. I don’t play a ready-made playlist. On the night, I watch what gets your colleagues going.
Beforehand, favourite songs, shared classics and tracks you’d like to avoid help me prepare. I also pick up on a theme. At a Halloween staff party in Dillingen, for example, I prepared the music for the programme items and DJed the evening from start to finish.
04
Equipment and microphones for speeches
If needed, I bring my own sound and lighting equipment, plus microphones for speeches and hosting. If professional equipment is already on site, I check beforehand what we can use. For large rooms, we plan additional sound reinforcement. Your quote shows exactly what equipment I bring.
I prepare speeches, awards, team contributions and presentations together with your contacts. We agree beforehand how much hosting you’d like.
05
Coordination with venue and agency
With companies, agencies and organisers, more than one person is often involved. I coordinate directly with your project lead, the venue and the technical contacts. Existing equipment, setup, soundcheck and travel all go into the preparation. Before the event, we go through everything: playback, speeches, microphones, setup and all key contacts.
As managing director of the Time Solutions event agency, I plan and organise events myself. For example, I’m involved in htw saar’s Night of the Profs at the Saarlandhalle together with Time Solutions. At that scale, music, programme and equipment have to come together at the right time.
06
DJ for your company party: costs and billing by playing time
What a DJ costs for your company party depends on guest numbers, venue, music times, equipment and travel. I put your quote together from these. For businesses, the DJ service is billed by actual playing time.
At the end, I add up the playing time and round the total up once to the next half-hour. Your quote gives the price per half-hour. The planned duration is not a minimum: if your event ends earlier, the DJ fee is lower. Setup, pack-down and soundcheck don’t count as playing time, and I deduct breaks without DJ music.
If you’d like to keep going, we discuss whether I can stay. The half-hour rate stays the same. Equipment, a mirror photo booth and other services have their own prices in the quote and are listed separately from the playing time on your invoice.
07
International teams: German and English
I speak and host in German and English. I also make short announcements in French, such as the welcome. I don’t speak Luxembourgish. We agree beforehand which announcements work best in which language.
At the Alvisse Parc Hotel in Luxembourg, I played an international Christmas party with a disco theme. Colleagues from many countries celebrated together. I coordinated the team’s programme items, and later there was plenty of dancing. That’s why, when we plan the music, we also talk about the countries represented in your team.
