Finding your wedding DJ and planning your music

The best time to find your wedding DJ is as soon as your date and venue are set, and the best way is a personal first conversation. That’s where you quickly notice whether someone understands your music, responds live to your guests and has equipment and venue under control. I’m Jannik Trenz, a wedding DJ from Saarlouis for Saarland, Luxembourg and Rhineland-Palatinate. From the ceremony through the drinks reception and dinner to the party, I plan your wedding music with you. I mix live in an open format, build in your first dance and your favourite songs and bring a white DJ setup that suits your venue. Here I show you how I plan with couples.

When should you book a DJ for your wedding?

Get in touch once your date and venue are set. For popular dates, six to 18 months ahead is a good starting point. It’s worth asking at short notice too, your date may still be free!

I reply personally within 24 hours. After our first conversation, you receive your quote and contract and have 14 days to accept both.

02

How do you find the right wedding DJ?

These five points help you decide.

01

A personal first conversation

Before I quote a price, I want to get to know you. My first conversation is free and without obligation, in person or on a call. You don’t need a finished schedule for it.

„Janniks Arbeitsweise hat uns bereits in den Vorgesprächen sehr gut gefallen, da er kein Standardprogramm abspult, sondern sich die Zeit genommen hat uns als Paar kennenzulernen.“ From the Google review by Jan Dennis S. (original in German): we really liked Jannik’s approach from our first conversations, because he doesn’t reel off a standard programme but took the time to get to know us as a couple.

02

Mixed live, not a ready-made playlist

Ask how your DJ works on the night. I don’t play a ready-made playlist. I mix live and let the mood decide which song comes next. Clubs have shaped me as a DJ, and today I’m the resident DJ at Apartment in Saarbrücken. I bring these club vibes to your dance floor.

03

Equipment that suits your venue

Ask which speakers, lights and microphones come along. I plan the equipment around your guest numbers and rooms, with my white wedding setup if you like.

04

Reviews from couples

Read what other couples write. On Google, I have 5.0 stars from 38 reviews (as of 28 October 2026), and you’ll find more on Bridebook and hochzeit.click.

05

A clear rule if the DJ falls ill

Ask what happens if the DJ falls ill. I then look for a DJ with comparable experience through my network at Trenz Events and Time Solutions, and you decide whether they take over. Otherwise, you get your money back for the services that don’t take place. Any further statutory rights remain unaffected.

How do you plan the music for your wedding?

We talk about your music in our first conversation and again in our final meeting, in person or on a call. You don’t need a finished playlist.

01

Favourite songs

Tell me about songs that mean something to you. One couple, for example, gave me their personal top 15 playlist, and I worked the songs into my mix.

02

Your no-gos

We note down songs and genres you don’t like as no-gos. I keep them in mind with guest requests too.

03

Song requests by QR code

Your guests come over to the DJ booth or send their song from their phone using my QR code. I’m happy about every request and work it in so that it fits the mood.

04

Your first dance song

We prepare your song and the transition to the party together, with low fog if you like.

05

Ceremony music

Together we choose the songs for your entrance, ring exchange and exit.

04

Music and running order: your wedding day from the DJ booth

You decide when I join you. At Weingut Nico Sonntag in Nittel, for example, the day began with the ceremony on the meadow, followed by dinner under the vines and the party in the club room until the early hours. This is how the music usually runs when I’m with you all day.

01

Ceremony

Your entrance songs and microphones for everyone who speaks. That way, even the back row hears every word.

02

Drinks reception

Relaxed music that lets your guests chat easily, indoors or outside.

03

Dinner and speeches

The music stays in the background. I arrange speeches and surprises with your witnesses beforehand: timing, music and microphones.

04

First dance

I announce your dance in German or English, and briefly in French too. Then we move smoothly into the party.

05

Party

Now I read the dance floor, right up to the last song. We agree when the evening winds down by our final meeting at the latest.

05

Equipment and venue: what I sort out in advance

You don’t need to worry about the equipment. I arrange access, setup, power and any volume limits directly with the venue.

01

Power

At an outdoor ceremony, my battery-powered systems run without a socket. For the rest of the day, I arrange power, a sheltered spot for the equipment and a wet-weather plan.

02

Setup

By the time your guests arrive, I’m set up. I plan with the venue in advance when I can access the rooms and where my booth will stand.

03

Volume limits

Many halls have fixed volume rules, and some use a sound limiter. I plan speakers and volume to match.

04

Existing equipment

If your venue has a professional sound system, I check beforehand what we can use. Venues where I have already played each have their own page.

06

What affects the price of a wedding DJ?

You get a fixed price as soon as I know how you’d like to celebrate. I explain everything that goes into it, from my involvement and equipment to travel and your extras, on my pricing page.
